Landscape Interrupted

Landscape Interrupted is a photography exhibit by Lisa Steichmann and Josh Steichmann that will run February 6 through February 28 at Riverside Art Center (76 N. Huron St., Ypsilanti)

Artist Reception on February 6th from 5:00 - 7:00 pm.

(I couldn't find out much about the Steichmanns, but the preview photo online reminded me a bit of Alec Soth's Sleeping by the Mississippi images, so I thought I'd put it up.)

Some interesting pinhole and other alternative processing.

Found this site after having a conversation with Danny about pinhole. There are interesting images and some good technical information --- you know if you like to be technical and all. http://glsmyth.com/Default.asp

Jean Michel Berts

I just came across the work of Jean Michel Berts. While arguable not particularly interesting from a conceptual standpoint, here is an artist who has developed a stunning process for tonal rendering.

Su Blackwell While you were sleeping.

Su Blackwell

I found this paper/book artist over the break while looking for butterflies and pop-up books. Another installation on her site features a display of origami birds fold from images of missing persons. Visitors to the installation could snip an origami bird to take home for $1. The money of course was donated to a charity. http://www.sublackwell.co.uk/index.php

Michigan Today's Best of the Decade from UM Photographers

Michigan Today, an online magazine about U-M, has put together a Best of the Decade from U of M Photographers slideshow on their web site, presumably culled from photos that were published on their site. Most of the photos are documentary, but there are one or two that push a little bit into fine art territory.
